2,000 years ago a baby was born. Like any other baby he was vulnerable, he needed a mother, he came into a challenging world. But unlike any other baby, he had created the mother he was born to, and he had created the world into which he was born.
He came with a single focus, he came with a mission: to reconcile man to God by paying the penalty for our sin, bearing the Father’s wrath against sin, and giving us his righteousness.
Now, we have the privilege of relationship with the Father, through the sacrifice of Jesus the Son, by the power of the Spirit.
It is a wonderful thing to have family time, to share gifts, and to eat together. But there is something that totally overshadows this in every way: Jesus is Immanuel, which means God with us.
In Jesus coming to earth God has shown His intention to dwell with us. Today we can know the presence of God’s Spirit in our lives, because of Jesus’ birth, death and resurrection. It really is a season to rejoice, and be glad! This is the most transforming reality that this world has ever known.
So celebrate with all your might, giving Him the honor He is worthy of, and take some time to ponder the mystery that God loves us with a commitment that is displayed most stunningly in self-sacrifice.
Have yourselves a wonderful Christmas!
