Church planting can be done in many ways. We’re taking a very simple approach to our start at Trinity Central: relationship. Relationship with God and relationship with each other.
Establishing a community in Vancouver
Planting a church is really about establishing a community. It’s a community that live open lives with each other, having fun together, eating together, learning to love one another. If we read Paul’s letters to the churches in the New Testament we find this phrase “one another” occurs very regularly. “Serve one another”, “admonish one another”, “exhort one another”, “bear with one another”, “love one another…” – these are but a few of his instructions to the community of faith.
But the community we seek to build is not simply about relationship with one another, it comes together and finds meaning and purpose in relationship with God. Thus worship and prayer will be our earliest focus as we meet one another and seek to build our team.
It won’t be long before we start to gather to engage with what a church looks like from a New Testament perspective, teasing out our mission, our values and our vision. But in the meantime we’re starting very simply: relationship with God and relationship with each other. Prayer and food!
