We love Sundays! The absolute best time of the week is when we gather together as a church family! Worshipping together, hearing God speak to us, the familiarity of friends, the opportunity to pray for and minister to one another. It really is the best day of the week!
The writer to the Hebrews instructs his readers in Heb 10:24-25:
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
This past Sunday we announced that we will be moving the time of our Sunday meetings. From Sunday 6 Oct we will no longer meet at 5pm, but at 10:15am for a 10:30am start. We’re really excited about this, as it will make Sundays easier for our families and kids workers.
For those who are involved in setting up and worship, this means a sacrifice! It means being down at the Wosk Centre at 8:30am, and for that we salute you! You guys make all this possible! As a church we’re very grateful for the work you do and the commitment you express.
Living in Vancouver has many benefits! But it can be easy to neglect meeting together, and to find our Sundays taken up with all kinds of leisure activities, whether in the winter or the summer! As disciples of Jesus we understand that God’s intention is to have a people called by His own name, and so we prioritize being together and worshipping together. We don’t do it legalistically, driven by law, but as those excited about the spiritual temple we’re being built into.
As those growing together to be a family, our family gatherings on Sundays are not only a treat, they’re really important to us.
There is a spin off benefit to us moving to Sunday mornings… In the past we’ve held leaders evenings and prayer meetings on Friday evenings. But we know that Friday evenings are a great time to be with friends, colleagues and family at the end of the week, and so we’re going to move our monthly prayer meeting and leaders meetings to Sunday evenings.
God has called us to build a city church in the heart of Vancouver which impacts the city and beyond. We’re excited about the year to come! We want to be the most welcoming, hospitable family in this city! Let’s give ourselves to reaching out to others and inviting them to know Jesus with us. The fruit is eternal!
